Robert Westervelt in an IT Knowledge Exchange article outlined the NSA report unveiled at the recently held RSA2012. The NSA in it’s “Mobility Capability Package” report recommended Enterprise Mobility Architecture that could be a blue print needed for the private sector. Amongst the reports key recommendations are (surprise, surprise) items Mobile Active Defense has been strongly advocating since the beginning and available in its Mobile Enterprise Compliance Security (MECS) solution. Winn Schwartau, Chairman to MAD is also interviewed speaking about MAD’s full disk encryption.

NSA’s report key recommendations:

All mobile device traffic should travel through a VPN.
All devices should use AES 256 full disk encryption.
Tight controls on the use of Bluetooth, WiFi, voicemail and texting.
GPS disabled except for emergency 911 calls.
Ability to prevent users from tethering.
Ability to disable over-the-air software updates.
